Farewell Toronto

So I've been back in Vancouver for almost 5 months now, and finally I've gotten some time to go through the clips left over from Toronto in the winter months of 2011.  I met up with as many people as I could while finishing off school and rushing to pack up 4 years of my life in Toronto.. Anyways, enough of my story..  Here's the video I just scrapped together real quickly.  I miss these fools!

Bike check!

I've got a few new Spike components on my bike: hubs/hubguards/sprocket/cog.  A quick little bike check video to show that, and some clips from the past few days of riding!

Merry Christmas everyone!

YNOT shop visit

A couple days ago I gave the new YNOT shop a visit and it turns out with the holidays coming up and me moving back to Vancouver right in the middle of it all, that this would be the last time I see the the YNOT crew for an undetermined long amount of time..  It's so amazing to see how much this company has grown right in front of my eyes.  I saw Tony first messing around with the idea of some sturdy straps almost two years ago now I believe.  And now, Tony, Tom, and the crew have a whole line of bags and straps, with even more things in the works for the upcoming year!  Tony's been supporting me since the very beginning, not just through bike stuff, but with wise life advice as well!  Everyone over at YNOT are awesome people!  I'm surely going to miss them for sure.  But I'm sure our paths shall cross again in the future!!

Here's a few pictures of their new shop to make my little story more interesting :P

Quick fall clips

Been getting some clips for a new bike check the past few days.  It's been great to not have to be strapped down to a desk cramming for exams for once.  Just put some falling shots together for fun :)

Here's a couple screenshots I thought were funny:

YNOT straps: theft proofed

On the night of Halloween while I was stuck in the library all night cramming for midterms, my YNOT straps were stolen off my bike.  BOOOOOOOOO!  I found out at 4 in the morning when I came out to ride over to McDonalds for a late night snack to recharge my brain, and it sucked.

Luckily, Tom was able to link me to a new set as soon as we could meet up.

Now, I've had YNOT straps on my bikes for almost two years now, and this was the first mishap.  I realize it's probably just bad luck with some hooligans on Halloween night, but I don't really wanna risk getting my straps stolen again..  So I decided to make these harder to steal.

I melted a hole in the middle of the straps and put a bolt on it.  The heads of the nut and bolt are the same size, so you'd need to carry around two sets of wrenches to get these off, so I'd think that they're nearly theft proof haha.

They're tucked away within the height of the pedal itself so they don't get in the way. :)

DISCLAIMER: If you try this, make sure you're in a well ventilated area.  I didn't and I have a headache.  AND if you messed up your straps, I'm not responsible, and neither is YNOT obviously.  :P

Breakbrake17 Charmer26 bike check

The past couple months have been very very busy for me as I'm taking classes through the summer and am now working part time as well.  Most of my time this summer has been occupied with either of those two.  However, I managed to go ride a bit when I got some free time here and there and snag some clips!  Big thanks to Denis for catching these clips for me!

And I apologize, please excuse the absolute worst bike check in the entire world haha.

YNOT Cycle - Pedal Straps

The boys over at YNOT Cycle put this informative video together introducing their straps and demonstrating how beefy they are and how easy it is to install them as well!

And now you can grab a pair of straps for just $50!  AND receive a free wallet!  Get on it!!

Villains&Co + YNOT cycle

YNOT and Villains hooked up to collaborate on some straps!  They look pretty bangin' and if you're into them, you should totally try them out!

Old and new YNOT straps

These were my old YNOT straps, pretty beat up, right?  The funny thing is, they were still working 100% fine, and I could without a doubt use these for another year or so haha.  Seriously, these things are so beastly, and the design keeps only getting better and better.  I'll probably use these on my commuter-ish bike now, which have the older versions of the YNOT straps on there right now.

Here are my new straps, they're white and almost glow in the sunlight as I realized today haha.  Once they get some dirt on them they'll match my bike more and fit in more I'd think haha.

I messed around with these shots and I'm actually super happy with how these pictures turned out.  They look almost professional don't you think? Haha :D

Thanks to YNOT for the new straps, and Cultur for the pedals.

YNOT Gulper: Capacity test

A while ago I posted pictures of my new YNOT Gulper on my Flickr and got a comment that read "Needs cases of beer to approximate size."  I personally don't drink any beer, but saw that pop was on sale this week, so I decided to grab a few boxes to see how much would fit.

YNOT Gulper: Camera insert

I dropped by the YNOT shop again today to meet with Tony, he had an idea he wanted to work on: a camera insert that you can take out and use separately as well, and also keep your bag functional for everyday use.

When I got there Tom was wrapping up his work it seemed like, and was soon packed up and ready to head home, riding through the windy ass Toronto streets!

YNOT Gulper

The YNOT Gulper, I picked one up yesterday while I visited Tom at the shop, and I gotta say that this bag has already made my life easier!  I've only used the bag for half a day now, so I'll keep this short and sweet with my first impressions of the bag.

Ynot shop visit

Today I visited Tom at the new Ynot shop location for the first time.  It's not terribly far, but compared to where they were located before (literally no more than 7 blocks away..), it's definitely way out there.  I've only seen pictures of it so far, but it's a very nice environment to be in.  Tony's definitely done proper getting this place set up.

While I was there I took a couple pictures around the shop:

YNOT recycled tool pouch

I dropped by our Tuesday trick night for a bit after my class last night and saw that Tom had a bunch of these made.  If you didn't know already, I ride for Ynot Cycle, so when I told Tom that this is exactly what I needed, he said I could take one home to try it out.

Review: YNOT straps

Ahh the YNOT straps. What can I say, I really like these and can't imagine how I'd be riding right now if these never came around.

Since the first set of YNOT's I've been on, there has been many revisions to get to what they have right now.  What I love about YNOT is that the guys are ALWAYS looking for ways to improve the design and/or durability.  It may seem like a rip off to feel like you're on the older/inferior model, but don't sweat it.  Just because they found a way to make them last longer for us, doesn't mean that the previous versions will just disintegrate.  I believe the previous two models were reinforced, and even before those models, Tony used some heavy duty material to last as long as possible without any reinforcement.  What I'm trying to say is, the previous versions were super solid as well.

Contest: Win a pair of YNOT straps!

If you're in desperate need of some new straps, you might want to read on.  I'm looking to give these YNOT straps away to someone who really really needs 'em.  So spread the word!

Send me a photo of your current straps, I'm looking for either the most worn out or the ghettoest of all straps.

Send your photos to swoo@constantrevolution.net.

Contest deadline: Oct. 10, 2010 at midnight.  You have two weeks!

YNOT razzle series straps by Finn!

My good friend Finn who currently works with Tom at Ynot made some new straps, and they look amazing!
See more photos over at the Ynot blog!

I really like the way they look, and also like the fact the each individual strap is unique.  Mad props Finn!

Tom Mosher

I took a study break and visited the YNOT garage and took a few pictures of Tom's Thrasher and the new Cobra bags.

Introduction

Hi everyone, my name is Sungwoo Kim, most know me as Swoo.  I wanted a simpler way to keep track of the fixed gear portion of my life, so here it is.

If you haven't seen this yet, check it out, it's the most recent video of myself, filmed and edited by none other than my good friend Tom Briggs from Skitch Clothing.

Right now I'm riding an Allcity Dropout, I love the way this build turned out and am thoroughly enjoying it:

HUGE thanks to Allcity Cycles, Ynot Cycle, and BreakBrake17.

I'll be updating as my life gets updated, so keep checking back!
