Retirement: Formula hub
So while cleaning my rear hub to prepare it to get laced up to the new rim, I noticed a weird texture right down the center of the hub body. Upon closer inspection, seems that the hub is, for a lack of better description, twisting apart..?I assume that since the holes are supposed to be aligned a certain way/distance from the opposite hole, that a misaligned hub will eventually mess up the rim that's being laced to it? I don't know. I definitely don't feel that it's a good idea to reuse this hub though, that's for sure.
I don't know what caused it, maybe from impacts, maybe from backwards pressure (but I figure these would withstand that no problem since they're specifically designed for a fixed gear drivetrain..), or maybe from my pure awesome status, who knows. All I know is, I can't use this hub on the new wheel, so I need to dump more money into it :(
i think its because of jumps
ReplyDeleteyou and your bike are moving but your legs and wheel are not, so when you land it twist the hub
thats my theory
So.. basically what you're telling me is, that I'm not awesome?
ReplyDeleteBut yeah that actually makes total sense, that's along the lines of what I was thinking when I mentioned impacts, but you definitely clarified it in my mind.
nah dude. you're pretty awesome. there aren't that many korean freestyle riders.
