Welcome to Japanada.

Growing up in the era of the Fast and the Furious and Need for Speed franchise, R34 was one of my many dream cars.  Never would I have imagined of ever owning one of these cars.  Fast forward a decade and a bit, and here I am with my very own R34, and on top of that, seeing other beautiful JDM cars around on the streets of my own neighbourhood!  It's still a surreal experience.

Even with the same chassis, different owners build their cars differently, and there's no exception when it comes to these.  Charles did a great job with this build.  R34 GTR with Nismo R Tune bumper, Nismo hood, Jun spoiler risers, and Volk TE37's just to name a few of the noticeable upgrades.

Welcome to Japanada, let's see what 2016 has to offer.

A little more functionality

After a couple of years of driving the R34 very low to the ground, I finally ended up raising her up.  I've been getting a tired of trying to avoid every single crack or pebble on the road, and the ride quality with a stretched 35 series tire up front wasn't the most comfortable..  I decided to go with a fatter tire and consequently, had to raise the car up for some clearance..

One thing that I overlooked for a while is the fact that a sedan is much longer than the little coupes I was used to driving at a low height.  Speed bumps were a nightmare with this ride height.

Though I miss the look of her slammed like the last picture, I definitely enjoy the new found comfort.  It still rubs and startles me once in a while, but it's not quite as painful as before.  I'm done with refiberglassing my bumper over and over again..

David Chan: 1989 Nissan Skyline R32

I met up with David a couple weeks back on a sunny evening, and we drove around looking for some nice spots until the sun dove past the horizon.

1989 Nissan Skyline R32 GTS-T.  RB25DET.  Big ass turbo.  420whp.  This thing is a beast.

David sure created a one of a kind R32.  His goal was to create something different, and I think he's done a great job.  I've never seen a stock GTS-T bumper look so aggressive ever!  Wide rear overs AND overfenders??  C'mon man, this thing got more booty than Nicki Minaj!

I had the pleasure of shooting his car on a nice day (luckily!) within the short week he had in insured for a local meet, and I couldn't be happier with how this fast paced shoot went!

Tito's 180sx: The Resurrection

Tito's 180sx has been out of commission for way too long.  1 and a half, maybe almost 2 years??  During that time, a lot has changed.  I for one am glad that he took his time with the new build, and am VERY excited for him.

Putting on the final touches to get the car looking like one piece again.

We hosed the car down real quick and had an even quicker photoshoot! Loving the amount of dish on these Meisters.  Stepped lips are so beautiful!

Quite the effect as it just started to rain.

SUCH a beautiful colour to see in person..

Celebratory burnout is a must.

I gotta give mad props to Steve at Candy Autobody.  Everything I've seen come out of his shop has been a work of art.  Keep an eye out for that JZX81 as well ;)

Keep 'em clean!

We've been experiencing some abnormally warm weather this winter with one tiny snowfall and LOTS of rain..  If this weather continues, car season will be here within a matter of weeks!!

Shafeen's G35

Met up with Shafeen a couple weeks back and we had an amazing sunset shoot.  We got lucky with the weather as it's been really rainy lately.  We had postponed this shoot multiple times and when we saw a bit of sun peaking through the clouds in the morning, we knew this was our chance.

Take control

I love shooting at night because I can control the light, however I want it to be.  The dark emptiness is my blank canvas, to draw what I want.

Peter's Civic Sedan (JDM Type R conversion)

I met Peter through a mutual friend not too long ago and when we were introduced in the likes of "you guys are both car guys, you guys should know each other!!" I thought great, another one of those small talk conversations.  Then if we run into each other at a future event or something and not remember where we saw each other, it's just gonna be awkward..

DOCZILLA PART 2: Aftermath.

So here she sits.  Slammed on the ground.  All the hard work and sweat poured into this custom install by SerialNine seems more than worth it, don't ya think?

DOCZILLA PART 1: Installation.

If you're on any sort of social media, you've most likely come across JJ's LB GTR (@doczilla12).  It has got to be one of the most outrageous GTR's around.  It has a bit of everything: style, class, performance, ICE, you name it, it has a great balance of whatever you're into.

Jesse's RB26 S13

Jesse has made some more progress on his S13, and this probably excites me more than my own car excites me.. haha.  Sad but true!

Jesse's RB26DETT S13

I dropped by Jesse's place a while ago shoot some photos of his project and get some helping loosening up my coilovers.  I've been following his build on our local forum for a while but seeing it in person was a whole different story.

Another night in the garage

Since lowering the car and adding some fat spacers for the shitty offset wheels, I've been having some rubbing issues in the front, so I decided to take care of it today.

I hammered in some parts of the inner wheel wells that's been rubbed by the tire, but I noticed my harness was getting rubbed a bit as well.  I've done a full tuck but the corner part always seems to be a problem.

Pretty happy I took notice of this before it got really bad haha.  I'm gonna need some smaller tires for better clearance.

Semi-stanced

With the help and patience of a couple of the F__kShoppe crew members, we got my fenders rolled and my wheels kinda fitted.
