Winter build: Part 3

Okay so the IRO fork wasn't tall enough to fit the tire I was using and has been replaced by my old inFamous fork.  It was a bright neon fluorescent yellow/green colour..  It was nice when I was using it for throwing the bike around, but for a winter beater/commuter build, I wanted it to be more sleek looking so I painted it.  I wanted to paint it black but the closest colour spray I had at home was the dark gray I used for the front of my Dropout.

I used my peg to hold the fork as the paint dried, clever eh?

I wanted to paint it gray and peel off the sticker underneath so it'd say inFamous in BRIGHT yellow, but it turned out to be harder than I thought.  After messing up a couple spots, I remembered I had a bunch of their stickers lying around, so I took one out and put another sticker over the existing sticker haha.  I forgot to take a picture, but you'll have to take my word for it!

Here's the ALMOST finished build.  Sitting by my bike is my new YNOT Gulper bag I wrote about here, it's pretty sick!  I bought a basket/bar thing tonight at Bikes on Wheels and installed it right away.

I know it's not the greatest looking basket, but it's pretty spacious and I feel like it'd come in real handy!  This was taken with my phone while riding, so excuse the blur!

I still need to figure out if my brake caliper will fit properly on this fork.  I drilled the hole bigger to fit the nut thing, I just hope the brake pads reach the sidewall properly.  Then I'm gonna mount my fenders on, and also figure out ways to block water from reaching me as much as possible.  I'll have more pictures up either tomorrow or the day after.  I'm pretty stoked on this bike, built up from mostly left over parts.

OH and it still rides straight!  I can even ride it no handed!!  That was not expected at all haha.

  1. Where do you get all these extra parts? Do they just accumulate over time?

  2. Haha I know right? Either broken parts, old pieces from conversions I've made in the past, or hand-me-down parts. I bought the wheelset, headset, and the bar/basket thing though!
